A friend of mine from the UK has just asked me if there are any areas near coastal resorts/somewhere central for camping in Ireland. He'll be coming over for a fortnight or so with the wife and kids so somewhere kid friendly too I suppose. I haven't any idea about anywhere for camping/outside my bubble of south dublin so I'm not really any help to him.

    Any one got any ideas?

    Much appreciated.

I stayed there a few weeks ago and it was great, you can go snorkling from the campsite beach.

I stayed in a campsite in Louth years ago that had childrens facilities etc, and in a great location scenery wise. Cant rem the name now... but lots of places out there. I'm pretty sure theres a little camping in Ireland book available that gives star ratings and lists of facilities in the 100's of campsites about the country. I bought one... again years ago.. think possibly in Easons.

You could look at this one, in connemara. It might be a little out of the way, but is lovely, on a fine day !! Grand beach at the end of the site.
