What are irish-rail playing at, the dart this evening terminated at Howth Junction because of flooding along the line to howth. I personally think this is a load of cr*p. I only saw it raining at around 5:00pm and it was not near enough to flood the dart line, what the hell are they spending the money on? oh yeh i forgot they will be introducing pay & display. If this was the case they should have provided more buses at Howth Junction if it was flooded.

    Rant over

Flood water can often dislodge the ballast underneath trackwork; should this occur the track could be out of line and uneven and thus potentially dangerous. Providing buses at short notice at rush hour is nigh impossible.

Does anyone know if the darts are all back to 'normal' this morning?

    Rant begins..

It's even worse when you're heading to Howth after 7pm and the DARTs are delayed. They'll just dump you out at Howth Junction for no reason and piss off back to the depot in Fairview.

I couldn't tell you the amount of times I've been dumped off northbound DARTs in Connolly because of a "technical fault". Technical fault must be union speak for 'you plebs can freeze your nuts off in the rain, I'm going home'.

Just like "1 Maynooth 5 min" actually means "If you're lucky, it will be here in 15 minutes".

I'm sure i also read that dublin bus were honouring rail tickets. I can say for sure that Drogheda was washed out from 16:10 until about half five. The rain was torrential and if you had seen that rain you wouldn't be at all surprised that the line was closed.
