    Hi All,

I have been playing guitar for about 6 years and for the most part end up nearly smashing the guitar coz I dont think its right or any good so I'm looking for some constructive criticism.

My goal has been to get into a group playing music and potentially into a band, not to change the music industry but to play decent covers. give us your thoughts and feedback.

    Cheers.

Vary the strumming, also try picking it.

Not bad at all fella ive seen a lot worse so stop putting yourself down.ive often felt like smashing my guitar off awall too:-)

My advice is to get yourself a metronome as it will improve your overall rhythm and make you a better musician.also pay abit more attention to the chord changes and keep an eye on the fingers when making the changes.its the small thing that make the difference in my experience.

Stick with it kid. I found if you can jam with a few good guitarist it improves your timing and focus.

Get a metronome. Now. Right this minute, stop what you're doing and go and buy one. Put the Singer-Songwriter thing on pause for a while and just play along to The Beatles, Oasis etc etc all the standard 3 chord tricks.

In other words, don't worry about singing for a while and just get your rhythm sorted. Singing and playing at the same time is a skill in itself and better to do one very well than both poorly.

Smashing guitars off the wall might not help.

    QFT.

practice strumming straight with the metronome slowly, practicing chord changes and making sure there's a clean transition.

    Hey All,

Thanks very much to you all who have commented, your points which I have taken on board and am off to waltons to pick up a metronome, if you know of any good sites that is excellent for 3 chord trick songs. I use chordie.com a lot of the time and find it ok.

I'll upload another vid in a month or two and see if progress has been made.

I agree with the comment on being tense, music should flow and nothing flows when your tense.

Feck the guitar playing no one will be listening when you sing, you've a good voice man. But yeah get a metronome. the timing of the strums is a little weird.
