Physio/Injury Clinic in Limerick or Clare

I'm pretty new to running and I developed shin splits after about 6 weeks - I admit I was taking on too much too soon most likely. I took a break for 2 months and started back pretty gently (I thought) but they returned again after just two running sessions.

Can anyone recommend a good physio/Injury Clinic or whatever in the Limerick/Clare area who they found good for advice with exercises/shoes/insoles or whatever?

    Thanks!

    Hiya,
When I was living in Limerick I went to:

    http://www.unitedphysio.com/Personal.htm

He's a Chartered Physio (and hence might be a bit more expensive) but found him brilliant (note he might be out in Beijing atm)

    Slan

    Hi Tullaman,

I am from Clare and based in Limerick so I may be able give you an option for either location. In ennis, on the cahercalla road, I found the Bernadette Moroney practice very very good.

In Limerick, Im currently attending united physio by killmurry lodge roundabout. Funkyzeit just referenced this one also. Ur man is in Limerick, no beijing for him, as is the physio that works him and both are brilliant. For as long as Im based in Limerick I will be attending them. I've switched to this one purely for convenience.

Both I would highly recommend. I've had shin splints issues myself so I feel your pain!

I've also attached a document thats very good for helping you to figure out what runners you should be wearing. Once you know what gait type you are, ring any specialised sports shop (Buckleys in Cork is the one I rang) and they will tell you the specific runner you should be wearing.

    Good luck!

P.S-I know of friends who have not found physio helpful with their ailments, and often it is worth considering visiting an osteopath, to help you get to the cause of the injury rather than just fixing it every time it flares up. Just an idea

This came up recently in the Limerick section of boards.

Personally I'd stick with my recommendation of Damien Mordan, really fixed up my leg issues (have had about 5 years of knee or arch pain), his details are on the link.

    Hope you're better soon.

Thanks MarieC, looks to be plenty of detail in there.

Speaking of Ger Harmann and 500 yoyos for the first 2hrs - does anyone know of a good physio _school_ in the midwest??? :D
