One of my friends is really worried about failing his repeats and thus the year and he said that there isn't but I heard that there was...anyone know for sure?

Not sure myself, all I do know is that compensation is only given for some courses, mainly in science/commerce. Have no experience with it in Arts. So I think it depends on what your friend is studying.

Entirely depends on what you are studying. There is no more compensation in Elec Eng and maybe engineering altogether. Don't know about other courses.

well Im in the same course and I passed one of mine by compensation so it is in our course between chemistry and physics I think...so it would be in the repeats so

There don't really tend to be any hard and fast rules with repeats - in my experience, if they can let you through, they will.

What do you mean by compensation?

Like if you got 50% in chemistry and say 35% in physics (and the pass rate was 40% in both) you would pass as the average would be higher then 40

Thats how its done right? Or at least something similar to that.

Look up Marks and Standards on the Exams site (or just click here), but if you could compensate in the summer one would be able to compensate in the repeats also.
