Has anyone used any of the DVE (Digital Video Essentials) discs to calibrate their TVs?

My Panasonic plasma is close to reaching its run-in period (200hrs) and I want to adjust the settings to get the best possible picture. The problem is, I'm confused about which DVE to purchase?

    1. Digital Video Essentials
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00009WW03/

    or

    2. Digital Video Essentials - HD Basics
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Digital-Vide...=pd_sbs_d_h__6

or do I need both based on my setup?

On AV I have Sky+ (No HD box) connected via scart - I'm thinking I might need disc 1 to calibrate this?

    On HDMI-1 I have a PS3 - I definitely need disc 2 to calibrate this.

I'm hoping disc 2 will do the job for everything, i.e. calibrate the TV on HDMI-1 and just re-use these settings on the AV mode, but because Sky+ is not HD it may not be so good to get the best picture from Sky?

Any advice would be really appreciated...

    Thanks!

Yup have the DVE disc knocking around somewhere.. Have used it myself and have also loaned it to a fellow boardsie with very good feedback from them after using it.
I'm off to the states tomorrow till next Tuesday but if you can hang on or nobody else comes up with a copy in the meantime i'll post it to you. PM me your details.

Hey Homer, thanks for the reply and the kind offer!

I'm going to buy the disc myself, as I figure it will come in handy again, in the future. Just really looking for advice, do I need 1 disc or 2?

    Cheers!

From reading on AvForums its seems you may as well get the BluRay version as one guy mentions it did not improve many settings over the original DVD but it is an improved disc.
