    My dad's uses Outlook express. He has a number of domains including old @mail.com ones which get a huge amount of spam.

    Anyone know a program or easy way of filtering out the obvious spam, easily and without much manual configuration etc?

    Thanks

    bit of a hack, but you could route all the mail accounts through gmail, and then configure outlook to receive all its email from the gmail account. You can configure the gmail to send out emails from your existing email accounts so it wont affect how he works.

    Dont know a damn thing about Outlook though so I wouldn't know how to do the POP3 configuring on that end. I'll leave another poster for that.

    I'd suggest a program called MailWasher Pro http://www.firetrust.com/en/home which I've been using for over 3 years, & recommend it for the following reasons:
    - it's very cheap @ $39.95 once-off price;
    - it automatically picks up your email settings in Outlook or Outlook Express & imports them into Mailwasher;
    - it learns very quickly who's a friend or not & adds their email address to the friend or blacklist;
    - it allows you to see the links in your emails & you can then see if they're real or not
    - the best bit is that you can view your mail without downloading it onto your pc!

    +1 JasperKat,

    I've been using that program for years & love it to bits.

    Like you said, the greatest plus (as you mentioned) is that you are actually checking & vetting all your mail on the mail servers, not your PC. You decide what's getting onto your system as opposed to trying to deal with it after it's on.

    But if the OP really wants something to integrate into Outlook Express with no configuration at all? he could try SpamBully. It costs about €20 & works pretty well.

    You can view a demo Video here

    Might be an easier option for the Dad's!

    For a free alternative, before you buy any product, try:

    http://www.spamihilator.com/

    Very easy install (even manual configuration is easy and the website has good instructions).

    Regards.
