    What competition?

For ISSF shooting, all the target sizes are here in the general regulations. I think they may be a bit smaller than what you've been using, for example the 10 ring at 50m is 10.4mm.

We have no matches shot at 100m and 200m however, and the match at 50m is shot with .22lr rounds but the match at 300m is shot with any calibre up to 8mm. So we really would need to know what competition you mean clive.

Opened a can of worms here I think as I'm not shooting for competitions as such just target practice at the range (plinking).
But I may as well have the correct size bulls while I do this.
At the moment I have a 22lr with a 223 on the way, but not real target guns such as the ones I've seen at Midlands, I'll never get to those standards.
At the momment I'm using a ProTarget with a 1" centre and 1/2" black inner ring but as was said above the inner should be 10.4mm @50 with the 22lr.
Is this of any help with my original question?

Clive the 50m target that I've linked to above is for .22 target rifle. You'll be at a bit of a disadvantage using a sporter but its still a good test. The ISSF don't do targets at 100 yards, but the NSRA do and here's the target dimensions for that distance:

    Value|Diameter
    X Ring|12.40
    10|26.48
    9|57.32
    8|88.16
    7|119.00
    6|149.84
    5|180.68
    4|211.52
    3|242.36
    2|273.20
    Aiming Mark|205.55

The aiming mark is the diameter of the black area. The target is inward gauging meaning that a shot that bisects a scoring ring scores the higher value.
