Offensive/Defensive Arguing

Something ive thought of lately....Does anyone else find that you get more success out of an argument by going on the offensive?

    e.g "You did xyz"

instead of going on the defensive

    e.g "No I didnt"

Basically, instead of defending yourself, you go on a verbal attack on the other person. The trick is, never bring the arg back to yourself, even if they try it.

There are pros and cons of the approach, but I prefer it simply because, when push comes to shove, id sooner be referred to as an asshole than a pushover.

Please dont take thsi post too seriously. Wacky opinions welcome! :D

Can you give an example of what you mean, otherwise I shall declare your 'Offensive Tactic' as being incorrect.

OP: Read up on argumentation. Go beyond kiddy tactics ("No I'm not" -v- "No! You are!").

This would be the actions of someone who was in the wrong, and being quite childish about it. ;)

Often used by guilty spouses! :D

Although I completely disagree with what you are saying, I will not defend in the least your right to say it and will point and laugh if other people kill you for saying it.

Well if you want to accuse someone of something and start the argument "No I didn't" you've pretty much failed straight away, so I guess your right.

It's the politician's tactic. Never let the opponent define the issue.
