Enable CTRL key as Apple Key??

    Hi,

I own a Mac cube, but am mainly on Windows and Unix boxes.
It drives me mad that the Apple key is used for Copy, Cut and Paste.

Ergonomically, it's easier to stretch to the most outside keys then to the Apple key AND it's not a habbit for me.

So the the question is: is it possible to enable the CTRL key as the Apple key?
Any commercial solution suits me fine too.

What does the CTRL key do any way in the Apple world?

I'm pretty sure that you can set your own keyboard shortcuts in System Preferences>Keyboard & Mouse

I'm sure there's some apps to remap the keys.

As for the CTRL key, if you click with it - it's the same as right clicking (if you don't have a two button mouse) - called ctrl-click.

Open your System Preferences -> Keyboard & Mouse. Click on Modifier Keys down the bottom of the window. You want to set the Control key to the Command option.

Slightly off topic but I dare it:

How's that new Apple keyboard with white keys on aluminum frame, ergonomically?

It looks gorgeous and was thinking of buying it for my Mac and maybe a PC.

I'm using the wireless aluminium keyboard, and I find it very good. I do occasionally find myself hitting the wrong key, but that's more to do with the fact that the one I am using is a Japanese one, whereas I'm used to the regular Irish/UK layout.

Does it have good tactile feedback?

Forgive me my ignorance but can you 'dent' the keys?
Or is it more a ZX Spectrum experience?

Anyway I will try one in shop to see how good they are.

Great forum btw, never seen so much answers in such a short time!

Yeah, the keys click down satisfyingly enough. Quite similar to a laptop keyboard, I guess. I much prefer it over those big logitech/microsoft beasts.

Its weight, dimensions and the fact that it's wireless make it ideal for throwing down the side of the couch while not using it!

Great battery life on them too.
