I went to the doctor over two weeks ago and she was going to send a letter to the psyiatrist to get an appointment. As of now though I still have not received anything in the post.

Should I have received this by now?

    Thanks.

totally varies. routine appointments could be anything from 6 to 10 weeks. you could always try ringing the psychiatrists secretary to get an idea of how long you'll be waiting

With any referrals you get to from a GP, you will be living in a certain area that has a particular psychiatrist and community mental health team assigned.

Ask the GP where or to who he referred you to. Some will see new referrals within days some can have a year + waiting list, it's all pretty much dependent on who your assigned consultant is and what team/area.

Do you have health insurance? Some plans will let you see a private consultant which will be much quicker.
