Any predictions for tomorrows time trial. See it is over the same course(2 laps) as the Road Race so anything but flat! So it seems from the road race results the inform guys are Cancellara, Rogers, Evans, Vande Velde, Leipheimer, Contador, Menchov and of course Schumacher. I think Cancellara looked awesome in the road race but can he reproduce that form again? Leipheimer or Contador may surprise him. Is it too hilly for Schumacher?

I reckon Cancellara is bummed from not winning any TT stages in the TdF, so I think he'll go all out for this one.

I'm going with Cancellara, or Evans as an outside bet

If the course is too hilly for Schumacher it would surely be too hilly for Cancellara too - the size of him! This being the case it might well suit the more compact builds of Evans, Leipheimer and Contador.

Btw, who or what determines the start order? There isn't a world ranking system for TT, at least not that I'm aware of. They seem to have applied some sort of magic formula that combines most recent performances from the World Championship, Giro and Tour.

He crashed badly in the Giro and with the training downtime and lack of actual racing since his form will obviously have suffered. (I wonder too if that porn star moustache he's sporting these days doesn't cost him a watt in extra drag?)

He had a nasty crash early in the Giro IIRC, so hasn't been racing since

    Beaten to it!

It does look really bad doesnt it, bike manufacturers go to all the trouble to make their bikes aero and he goes and grows that awful joke looks like a sleeze from a dodgy western movie

Just watched Dave Z finish about 10 minutes ago. The 'tache is gone but it hasn't made much of a difference - he'll be doing well to finish in the top 10.

Cancellara wins it, adding to his already impressive bronze in the road race.
Despite not winning the TTs in the TdF, I think it has been a fantastic season for the man. He rode a fantastic tour in support of Schleck and Sastre, and now this to top it off. The man is a hero

Well done to Larsson as well in silver, brilliant stuff.

    Apologies about the post!

Cancellara was absolutely awesome to watch as he pounded down that motorway at some ridiculous speed. He turned a deficit of 6 seconds at the 3rd checkpoint into a winning margin of 33 seconds by the finish line, i.e. he gained 39 seconds on Larsson in just over 12 minutes of riding! In that time he also gained 24 seconds on a super-aero Leipheimer. He's surely one of the greatest athletes in the World today. It's a shame they can't work out some way of doing inter-sport comparisons because I'd love to know who'd win between Cancellara and Phelps!

Btw, was anyone else surprised at the ultra-low cadence that Larsson used on the climbs? His legs seemed to be barely turning at times and I found myself wincing as I imagined the strain on his knees. I thought that sort of thing went out of fashion with the retirement of a certain German.
