    Hi,

I am currently looking to purchase a new laptop. I am after a laptop that provides the portability (under 2.2kg) of the Dell XPS M1330 and this seems like the only one that Dell sell in Ireland.

I was wondering could anyone suggest similar brands in the same price range?

I am considering the Dell Studio 15 Laptop also but was wondering if it is a little as portable or a bit heavy for lugging around.

Studio has a starting weight of 2.77 Kg, so no not lighter than the M1330.

My own Laptop, the HP dv6500, is 2.7 before you factor in my expanded battery (lets say 3kg) and I honestly have always considered it to be fairly light - especially considering the model's all plastic exterior.

considering the M1330's size class in comparison, its seems like a heavyweight. But even the HP tx2500z, a neat-ass 12" model, weighs in at 2Kg. Only the Macbook Air seems exceptionally lighter, at 1.36 Kgs.

The`1530 is slightly larger, slightly heavier and more reliable than the 1330 version. I carry on in a backpack for hours a day, and barely notice it.

Off the top of my head, it weighs around 2.6-2.7 kg. It's lighter than the Studio's anyway.

Extra 9-cell battery would make it close to an even 3... but it feels fine.

A lot of problems have been reported with the m1330 (my own included). Would advise you to stay well away if something to does happen to it dells support will not be able to help you, they're useless

The 1310 Vostro is another option - tis about 2.2kg i think, a good compromise between price and weight imho
