PS3 Media player

I was just wondering what the media player on the ps3 was like? What files it plays and is there options to zoom in or out etc. Im trying to decide what new gen console to get and if the ps3 has a decent easy to use media player, as well as playing blueray, think that would be a deal breaker for me ^^
