I'm now the proud owner of a set of macgregor m685 forged irons for a price of 200 delivered from ebay! They're 700 in mcguirks.

Every word about them on the net is positive. A friend of mine has a set and i hit a few shots today, the stock rifle shaft produces a lovely trajectory.

Can't wait to get my mitts on them.

Sorry just had to share my delight!

Well done but I hope that they are the genuine article.
Alot of the clubs sold on ebay are counterfeit.
Not sure is there much difference in the actual hitting between real and genuine.

Even if they were counterfeit - that's still some price! Really hope they're not obviously.

I'd expect they're real. The m685's, despite being a really fantastic iron haven't sold very well and have been around for a year or two now, so there is probably excess stock to be sold off. A lot of the Macgregor gear is going cheap on ebay from UK/States, while still being full price here.
Was looking at irons this time last year, and Premier Golf had a nearly new 5-pw set of M685's for about €230, which was an amazing deal. I didn't go for them in the end because I wanted to try out some MP60's, but they felt great.
The rifle shaft in them is great, and it's what I have in my mp60's now.

    Good luck with them

If you're bringing these in from America I'd say be prepared to be badly stung by customs.

With stuff like clothes and things you get away with it most of the time but I've heard from people who've tried it before that if you try to bring any golf equipment in you get nabbed straight away...

If its any of the main couriers,UPS,Fed Ex or DHL you will get hit ,around 30% xtra but still not too bad overall.
USPS are the best ,I've never had to pay customs when using them even when the value has clearly been marked as a few hundred dollars.

I'm getting them from the UK so won't get hit by customs. They are the genuine article, as was said above they can be bought from UK/US waaay cheaper than here.
It seems MacGregors lack of advertising and sponsored tour players kept these clubs below the radar as far as the average golfer is concerned

    They're fakes.

Good comment a lot of thought must have went into that. Those clubs have been on directgolf.co.uk for a number of months at £199, and I would bet they are genuine.Fakes tend to be copies of the major brands and popular versions of their clubs, not many counterfeiters would see MacGreagor as a moneyspinner.Looking forward to your next highly informative comment.

Agree with Woodgate, can't see much money to be made in selling MacGregor fakes - they don't sell much of the originals anyway - hence the cheap prices.
Also they are an end-of-line model.
They are available for £184 from Greg Nicholson in the UK also...

Any evidence to back up what you are saying?

    Some rant!!
Only commented on a crap reply that stated only "they're fakes" without any proof.

The rest of the "rant" was information on where I have seen the clubs for sale, prices, etc... so not a "rant".

Any chance of a reply about the topic/question from you.

I suppose he was using his intuition. (Is that still allowed these days )

Seems like its too good to be true in fairness.

    How?
When you can buy them from reputable online stores for the same money, they are a discontinued stock item that are being sold off.

Here is a similar set from the same seller. I made an offer of £150 and the seller accepted.
Power seller, member since '02. 99.4% positive feedback....
I'm not too worried about them being fake
