I know that they are two similar but different devices.

One is geared towards music/video while the other is mobile internet but they both have the same functions.

    What would people go for?

I have a touch, but have always wanted the N800 (uglier predecessor to the N810) very cool how customisable (open) it is, plus it has too SDHC slots..very awesome.

I like the looks of the N810, and the keyboard, but the capacity/storage option is a bit weak.

The Touch would be much better for useability. Using the MultiTouch screen to browse the Web using Safari is hard to beat. The Touch is nice and small and fits easily in your pocket. The N800/N810 are quite big and wouldn't fit comfortably in your pocket. The lack of Flash on the Touch is the major drawback for me. The N810 supports Flash 9 but the Touch does support YouTube. I would go for the Touch because of it's size and it's easy to use OS and because there are 100s of Apps to download for it. You'll also be getting 8/16/32GB memory with it. Because of the popularity of the iPhone and the Touch, more develpors will be making new Apps for the Touch while there won't be as many Apps available for the N810.
