posting on behalf of my missus,

She has a 00 matiz for the past 5 years or so, 50k on the clock, the NCT has run out since april and shes afriad to get it done as a mechanic friend claims theres something that needs doing to it for it to pass, not sure exactly hwat It drives grand but she wants to rade it in for an almera (hatchback) or a 206. She has about 2 grand aswell as the car to trade... what should she expect to get for it or are there any deals out there that she should be looking at. she needs the car for work, which is approx 5min drive from the house... and she is specific with the almeras and the 206 purely because of the look of them and she wants something newer than 01.

i thank you for your advice and your patience:)

Well, I have a 99 Matiz and if I would be buying a similar car again, under 1k would be the right price.

But this with two years of NTC and some tax,

00 Matiz without NTC is not worth much, if anything.

    See this :

    http://www.carzone.ie/used-cars/Daewoo/Matiz/SE-NCT/1156986/

But now it is so much buyers market, so car without NCT is really hard to sell.

Why not just a book a time and see does it passes or not?

And if you see buyandsell.ie you realize that this 00 Matiz is really under 1k,

If I would be offered a 00 Matiz, 2 years of NTC and some tax, my offer would be 800 euros (private market).

    +1

And if it fails, at least you'll know what's wrong and it will be fairly easy to get a quote how much it will be to get it fixed

    Ok,

one thing what there is need to remember is that yes, you can get nice quote from the old model, but when you buy the new one a part of your quote is in that car.

In real life 00 Matiz is no way near to 1,7k

Maybe the best way would get the car NTCd, and sell it privately, then go ahead and buy 206 etc without trade in,

    For instance, 01 206
    http://www.carzone.ie/used-cars/Peugeot/206/1.1-LX/1161257/

If she would get 800-1000 from Matiz and 2k to spend, well problem solved:)
