Virtual DJ is easy to use and quoe effective. Try Traktor too.
Are you going to use a controller?

Buy a beheringer bdc 3000 and you get Traktor 3 LE included. I have one and it's cool as a bedroom setup. I bought one from the US for about €200 including customs charges and delivery. (exchange rates were in my favour though)

You cant go wrong with Virtual or Tracktor DJ. used them both.

+1 for VDJ, I still use the old V5 and it does what I want it to do. My 00DJ came with PCDJ VRM +KJ plugin, but I prefer VDJ as the search function is better. Ideal for putting a request on before someone get's back to thier seat! :D (his face was epic!)

I haed a BCD300 for a while, its ok for basic bedroom use but I found the quality lacking. The M-Audio Torq Xponent is miles better, more expensive but totally worth it - and the Torq software it comes with is better than VDJ I think

Slightly easier to use is atomixmp3 or so I find. Not too bad and is handy while you learn the basics of mixing and when to mix. I use it and I like it.

Be warned! The Behringer BCD3000 doesn't work with Vista. Or at least it didn't in March of this year. Maybe they've finished the driver for it now.

Get an Xponent. You wont regret it.

    virtualDJ all the way

i have a bcd 3000 , have it working with the software traktor that comes with it ok not as good as vdj

Anyone know how to get Bcd 3000 working with vdj , would love to get them working together but am a bit of a dope when it comes to this

AFAIK the BCD2000 works with VDJ, and the BCD3000 works with Traktor. To change each around is possible but you practically need to be a software developer to work it out.

    Do as mikehoncho says

Plastic knobs and general flimsyness are not standard features of the xponent?

Yeah I love VDJ too. It's full of great features. Ordered the Maya 44 soundcard off thomann so hopefully will be using timecodes by the weekend!
