Am I allowed to put this here?

I'm thinking of selling my Alfa GTJ. It's in good nick and I've spent money on it.

I think I have a buyer lined up but you know how these things go.... so if anybody here is interested just ping me.

I cant believe you sold that car !!!!

Then again I couldn't believe it when you sold the Merc either !

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 723 ✭✭✭3ps

It was a kindof spur of the moment decision. If it had taken 6 months to sell I wouldn't have minded (let along 6 hours!)

It was only a toy, and having had it a year and learned alot from it and been to Italy etc in it I was just thinking about a change.

Due to an unbelievable timewaster I have recovered my car and it is now on the market again.

    Asking price is €9000.

After 4 weeks I still hadn't got my money from him so I took my car back.

Good god, what a knob!!I think he was living the dream,no cash no car surely, what would have happened if he had crashed it in the intirim...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 723 ✭✭✭3ps

TBH he did want the car and I think if I held on long enough I would have received my money but there's only so much I can take and there was alot of white lies along the way. The truth up front would have bought him more time.

It is a nice honest car and people express interest in it all the time it's just a matter of getting one of them to commit!

Would you not have been better trying that route a bit longer? It's one hell of a buyers market these days and I thought you did extremely well selling your car for that price. Now you'll have to start all over again :(

If I were you, I'd open a new line of communication with your man to see can you get it sorted

Well, when you are lied to and stalled for a month you have to just accept that something is wrong.

There is some interest in the car, not sure how fast it will move though. And I have kept a line open. If he turns up with the cash I won't say no........

Do you have to have an english address to keep it on a retention?

Not for me lol! I meant in general. Surely there's an Alfa lover that would want it.

It's on Irish plates now. Well, plate singular as the front one fell off somewhere.

...aargh!! The same thing happened to me with the private no on the 968 I bought.....if I had just taken my time, and not rushed into VRT-ing it () I would have got GBP£600 for the plate........:o DVLA wouldn't let me relocate the plate after it left GB system.........:(

So, tip of the week: if you do buy a UK car with a nice number........STOP ! Get it on to a UK address, on retention........and then VRT your car. You might be glad you did !:)

I was thinking you would have to do this alright. Is the plate unsellable if you dont retain it,or do the DVLA reallocate it?

The DVLA take posession of it/own it. I tried to get the seller to keep it and sell it on himself for a nominal charge but he wasn't bothered and either was I. They are only worth something if there is a buyer etc.

I've decided to sell my GTV 3.0 V6. I've had it since October and haven't really warmed to it, even though it's a super car. I think I want more of a comfy cruiser.

    Anyway, it's up on adverts.ie

good luck with the sale lad,but am i reading this rightly?
I recently had a sports clutch, lightweight flywheel and Q2 differential fitted. If you read any Alfa forums the Q2 is a MUST HAVE modification and allows you to floor it coming out of a wet roundabout with wetting yourself.
With wetting yourself?:p:D Sounds like its a fun car indeed!;)

So you let him take the car without getting full payment for it. You should never parts with the goods until full payment is made.
