    Hi,

Does anyone have any experience using this drug? Did it work for you? I have heard a lot of good things about SSRI's and a lot of bad things, I'd just like to know boards.ie users general thoughts on these drugs.

I know one person for whom it appears to be working. As with most anti-depressants, concurrent counselling is the best option. For some people a certain anti-depressant will have little effect but another will. Sometimes dose matters.

A GP can give better advice to be honest.

I know one person who had a good, growing experience with this drug (she had counselling too) but also one person who was constantly tired and had no sex drive while on it.. :(

If you're going to take an SSRI, i would recommend Sertraline.. But that is my own opinion, everyone is different!! Talk to your GP..

As you say, everyone is different. You can only say that it worked for YOU.

OP - you'll have to wait at least 2 months before evaluating whether it's working for you.

If I were you I would ask for a referral to a therapist too. I really do not believe the majority of people with depression and anxiety just have a "chemical imbalance". For most people there would be some form of underlying trauma at the root of the problem.
