    Honestly, if there's one artist than can hit me right in the heart, that can create music that can pull right on the emotions... It's David Sylvian. The man is just incredible, his voice is unprecidented.

    Here is a song from his album Dead Bees On A Cake, which I would recommend that any music fan genres;

    If you're a fan of alternative music, wou probably wou've heard David with the band Japan, which was also terffic;

    Ghosts (The song above) was just an incredible piece of music, atmospheric and beautiful at the same time.

    It's interesting to note that David Sylvian was often compared to David Bowie, yet he was indluded on the soundtrack for the film Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence, a film which stared David Bowie, the soundtrack to which was nothing short of incredible, and pretty much brings me to tears;

    David has also been a part of the progressive rock scene, and crafted some incredible music along with Robert Fripp, as follows;

    And as well as that, David Sylvian has also been involved with 'Tweaker', Chris Vrenna's project after he left Nine Inch Nails, which was fantastic:

    Incredible.

    Ghosts is utterly sublime - one of my favourite songs ever.

    The Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence title track is so beautiful but was written by Ryuichi Sakamoto, however Sylvian recorded a version with vocals.

    Indeed, Sakamoto's theme is incredible, in fact, the whole film's score is just breath-taking, absolutely brings me to tears. It's a beautiful film, I just can't get over how much it hits me everytime I watch it, very few films have that much impact.

    I have been meaning to investigate him for some time. I have one song by him, he does vocals on a track from the album Venice by Fennesz and (much like the rest of the album) it's gorgeous.

    And Robert Fripp is the man responsible for the awesome guitar sound on Bowie's Heroes.

    Sylvian was the only bloke to challange Bowie.....in my sisters teenage imagination! :D

    Needless to say as she was into Japan I could not be, so took refuge in the Stranglers. Always loved Ghosts though.

    Right you are there, but personally, I far prefer Fripp's work with Sylvian. Their live album Damage which I picked up recently is just brilliant.

    Here's some more terrific Sylvian tracks to enjoy:
