    Hey,
This is my first C&C, I took this today, on a short walk up Bray Head. I like how it turned out, particularly the depth and how the clouds stand out. I'm no expert and a relative novice and would love to take better landscape shots. Hope it loads now!! Finally, figured it out.

Use the image url... not a link to the flickr page..

    It'll end in .jpg ;)

    Nice sky alright.

The problem is that there isn't any flow to lead your eye through the image. There isn't really a subject other than the sky.

Landscapes are hard to get right.

    Hi
I am not trying to promote my flickr page, sorry if it comes across as that. Still not too sure how to post up the photo right.

Is there a tutorial, or faq how to upload photos to boards, sorry this is probably a very simple question, I am a noob after all.

Thanks for all your comments, I agree, there really is no main subject, I guess it was just a photo of a landscape, I am trying to compose my shots with a subject, but sometimes don't quite manage it.

Looking at the shot technically, the exposure is very good (there is a great balance of light between the land and the sky),you've achieved a nice depth of field with everything completely focused and there's a great range of colours within the photograph giving it a very summery look (hard to achieve this summer:()

In my opinion not all landscapes need a subject. In many cases it can detract from an amazing vista where the expansiveness is the beauty of the photo. However here the scene is not impressive enough to stand out by itself,so I would agree with Cabansail,in that a foreground object would make it a lot more interesting. Also be sure to exclude any intruding brambles/branches in your photographs. It's an easy thing to forget when composing a landscape.

The fact that it doesn't have some foreground interest is what keeps it from being a great photo. At the moment it's a good photo but it need that little bit extra to make it great. It's easy enough to get good landscape photographs, the difficult bit is bringing it to the next level.I've been doing landscapes for over a year now and I still can't get beyond average or good,it's a difficult business but keep at it.It can be one of the most rewarding forms of photography :)
