    Hi guys,

Hoping for some help here please?

Like it says on the tin, I cracked the inside of teh door of the washing machine. Its all the glass bit inside thats all spidered out. I put the washing machine on too soon after using the dryer and heard a loud crack-k-k-k-k and knew straighaway what it was.

Anyway, Ive been chancing my arm over the last few days with a dfew washes and now I see drops of water dripping out when its on.

So my question is, Do I have to get a whole new washing machine or is there a shop that sells spare parts for machines? Its an Indesit - is there an Indesit shop here in Dublin or how does this work? Do I have to get an Indesit Rep out to do it or is it somethign that I could give a bash to myself? A rough idea of what I can expect to pay would be appreciated as well.

Thanks for any help you can give!

Hi, from what I read the door glass/plastic can't break under normal use. Was there a belt buckle in the wash, or a coin maybe? You might want to check the filter for coins etc.

It can also happen if the machine is plumbed incorrectly, older machines required both a cold and hot water feed, newer machines only require a cold water feed. If it is the case that your machine is connected to the hot water feed in theory the machine could be operating way above it's normal working temperature resulting in the overheating of the glass. A combination of this overheating and coins in a cycle could easily break the glass.

Or it could be a manufacturing fault, contact the manufacturer or search Google for similar problems with you make/model...

If all else fails espares.co.uk might have a spare for you.

    good luck.

Hi. Thanks for the reply. It was defo that I put it on too soon after it was really hot from using the dryer function. My house mate had used the dryer - which we never normally do - and didnt put it back to the washing setiing that we use for most stuff. I didnt cop for ages and when I did I just switched the setting to wash...the cold water hitting the very hot glass was enough to cause the cracks I think. Rookie mistake!

Thanks for the link. Ill have a look now. :)

I dunno, but as a nipper I would just sit and stare into the washin machine:p

I guess most plastic would just melt and deform:confused:
