In continuination with a nuther other thread about youngsters.....

Ok, got ur attention, just wandering.. ive thought this for maybe the last 5 years or so, noticably when macdonaldsfast food restauraunts started to appear in every small town around Ireland. Kids are getting heavier and larger obviously, .......... but feck me.. i noticed a kid today in clogher market, she mustnt have been much more than 9 and without beating about the bush she actually had a pair of bra-filled breasts (and a belly to go with it)..!
now would this be down to the growth hormones that are present in the farm produce that is used to supply big macs and kfc type places that kids are rared on these days?

in my day (early eightys) we didnt see a pair of bumps on a girl till she was about 15 or so!!!

or am i just being a AH pedobearperv?

You are not a perv. You just heard the ground crack and looked to see the epicenter. I believe the cause of this is muck food. The hormones have not been proven to effect humans either way unless ingesting mass amounts of the stuff.

*EDIT* Its been a while since I heard the word diddies!

As far as I know, a child has to reach a certain weight before the production of pubescent hormones starts. Hormones are also produced in small quantities in body fat, consequently the heavier the child, the more developed at an early age the child will be.

So its a combination of both weight and hormones in a young child that causes the early development of breast tissue.

But I may be wrong so if anyone knows better, please correct me.

    It's called sexual precocity.

    http://app1.chinadaily.com.cn/star/2002/0822/he15-1.html
Environment and food are hurrying kids' sexual hormones

CHILDREN are becoming adults earlier - and their parents are worried.

Parents should learn to distinguish sexual precocity from normal growth maturity, according to a pediatrician.

If a girl's breasts start growing before she is eight, or if she experiences menstruation before the age of 10, she is diagnosed as being sexually precocious. If a boy's sexual organs become mature before the age of nine, he is similarly diagnosed. Girls are four times more likely to suffer from the problem than boys.

    Causes

Generally speaking, although they develop earlier, sexually precocious children do not become as tall as their peers because their bones stop growing earlier. Because their minds are yet to mature, social problems may also arise.

Pediatricians attribute the following causes to the rising incidence of sexual precocity:

First, environmental pollution where some pollutants, such as detergents and food additives contain hormones. Children may become abnormally mature sexually after hormones enter their body through water, food or skin.

Second, the intake of food or drugs containing sex hormones. Some parents let their children take tonics or so-called healthcare food which is suitable only for adults. Children may mature earlier if they take these tonics over a long period. Mistaken use of countraceptives by children may also trigger the problem.

Third, the impact of social pressures. The rising generation knows more about sex through the mass media than did its parents. Children are influenced by sex-related material displayed in TV, films, newspapers and magazines. The influence of this material may stimulate the sexual glands to secrete hormones.

When a child enters adolescence before the age of eight, parents should consult a qualified pediatrician.

Patients should be treated as soon as signs of sexual growth appear. "The earlier, the better," said Cai. A girl can generally grow only 5-to-7 centimetres after reaching puberty.

Prevention is always better than cure and Cai advises parents to learn more about their children's growth. Children should be well-fed but never be overfed. A balanced diet is better than any so-called tonic.

The government also needs to implement laws and regulations to protect the environment and strictly limit the discharge of any untreated pollutants that may be harmful to children's growth.

'Precocious Puberty' Is on the Rise
    By Kim Ridley

Hormone-mimicking chemicals found in food, water, and many consumer goods may well be the cause of why children as young as eight are showing signs of sexual development.

Kids these days are growing up too fast -- in more ways than one. American girls are reaching puberty up to a year earlier than in previous generations, with some children showing signs of sexual development as young as age 3. In extreme cases, girls are budding breasts before they’ve even learned to read.

Researchers call this phenomenon "precocious puberty," which some say is on the rise. Forty-eight percent of African-American girls and 15 percent of Caucasian girls show physical signs of puberty by age 8, according to a study of 17,000 U.S. girls published in Pediatrics in 1997. In a subsequent study of more than 2,000 boys, lead author Marcia Herman-Giddens found that 38 percent of African-American boys and 30 percent of Caucasian boys showed signs of sexual development by age 8.

What’s going on? Although scientists have yet to prove definitive causes, many suspect that hormone-mimicking chemicals, obesity and stress all contribute to precocious puberty. The chemicals, often called endocrine disruptors, are of particular concern because they’re everywhere -- in food, water, personal-care products, some plastics and many consumer goods.

Phthalates, ubiquitous industrial plasticizers common in everything from personal-care products to vinyl and plastic packaging, mimic estrogen. So do compounds in some pesticides and flame retardants. A growing body of evidence suggests that these and other endocrine-disrupting chemicals can interfere with sexual development, an idea widely introduced in the groundbreaking book "Our Stolen Future" by Theo Colburn, Diane Dumanoski, and John Peterson Myers.

In the two decades since the book’s publication, evidence has mounted that substantiates its main thesis. The September, 2006 issue of Alternative Medicine points out that a number of human studies have found possible links between endocrine disruptors and early puberty. One study found that Puerto Rican girls whose breasts developed earlier were three times more likely to have elevated levels of phthalate esters in their blood. Another reported that girls who had been accidentally exposed in the womb to polybrominated biphenyls -- common flame retardants containing compounds that mimic estrogen -- began menstruating a year earlier than a control group.

Some researchers have linked precocious puberty with factors including obesity, stress, and a sedentary lifestyle. "In the animal industry, to hasten puberty, they keep the animals confined, they feed them really rich diets, and they grow really fast," Marcia Herman-Giddens notes in Alternative Medicine. "That is exactly what we are doing to our children."

As young children struggle to cope with changing bodies, the psychological trauma can lead to later problems including depression, substance abuse and teenage pregnancies, according to a number of studies.

Kind of scary, not only are the children acting like adults younger - with mobiles and laptops instead of toys - but their biological development is advancing to match, even if it is due to an entirely separate cause.

Methinks you are right GirlInterrupted. Leptin is the hormone associated with obesity related early puberty.

15 isn't a normal age to devolp diddies surely.
I wasn't overweight, and I was 11 when the boob fairy struck overnight.

I know I wasn't the only one because it alerted the "grown up tweenie" faction to my eligibilty.
Consequently, to this day I can't comfortable discuss you know. Stuff.

How come the little boys get diddies also when they over-eat? Are the girls' diddies not just fatty deposits as opposed to actual bonafide diddies?

'Tits before Teeth' I call it.

I put it down to a certain economic-social class where children are put on birth control early and nothing to do with modern diets etc.

I've read a few dodgy things about the effects of soy. Apparently it contains phyto-oestrogen & is not the mae west for young boys or girls to ingest in large amounts.

Gotta say, I'd be more worried about the little boys with moobs - most of them are seriously over weight, whereas the girls are just a bit ahead of themselves.

It's called gynecomastia in boys and the causes aren't very well understood iirc.

Sometimes the moobs even produce milk. How embarrassing. :pac:

Not sure if it was mentioned (didn't read the big long post on the previous page), but central heating in homes can also be a trigger to beginning early puberty. Something about the body not needing to regulate it's temp as much so it can begin the process of puberty.

I've noticed that girls have bigger breasts these days than the girls i was with when i was younger. a 14 year old would never have even had breasts when i was that age. it must have something to do with a change in envirnoment from a few years ago. possibly diet.

when i lived in the states for a few years i noticed my finger nails and hair grew a lot quicker than they did when i lived in Ireland. I was also able to get a lot bigger from going the gym than i was over here. When i asked a doctor about it he said it was because of the hormones in the food.

they're in the beef and the milk. american cows are HUGE compared with trendy, slim (late onset puberty) euro cows
