Pay is meh. Some good, some bad. Vue paid min wage. Great fun. See as many films as you want for free, when you're not working. Saying that, do you really want to be in the place you work on your days off? Good for watching a flick after work, but aside from that, never saw one. Worked full time and did tills/tickets/food/cleaning. Good luck in getting a job, as they've most likely taken all their staff on, and will use some of the part-timers as full timers. Most of the full timers will continue to work there, so there may not be many jobs left in whatever cinema you apply for.

Pretty decent as part-time jobs go. Better then a pub, restaurant or shop IMO.

UCI pay minimum wage of course... I had a great time there. 90% of staff were college students, so all around the same age, etc. Had a great summer there, lots of parties and clubbing and drinking.... etc

Doubt you'll have much chance of getting in though. They take on staff for the summer and keep some on after.

Most cinemas pay minimum wage. Most will also have a policy of letting you in for free to films, with some also allowing you free munchies (all the cola and popcorn you can stomach).
Hours should suit you if you're in college/school - plenty of shifts/higher staff numbers needed in the evenings when cinemas are busier, option to do late ones at the weekend with prospects of full days at weekends too.
My experience of working in a cinema - I have good memories. Most staff were around the same age (early 20s) and in your downtime (between showings and when the cleaning and prep for next showing is done), there's plenty of scope for a laugh and a muckabout.

Also might stand you in some stead if you manage to get in a position to do nightly cash ups and stock control etc, as while a cinema doesn't sound vastly impressive on a CV when you go forward for other jobs, these roles can be drawn upon to demonstrate positions of trust and responsibility given to you by your employer, for future jobs.

TBH, if the pay wasn't so shyte, and if I wouldn't stick out like a sore thumb being the oldest person working there, I'd love to go back working in a cinema again! No stress, easy work (if a bit repetitive at times) and times where you won't be working flat out where you can have a laugh with your workmates.

Didn't enjoy working in one in town. Work is easy, and very boring. Pay is minimum. Sunday time and a quarter.. long shifts (you might want that though). free films and discount on food

I also worked in that one (I reckon we're talking about the same) and didn't like it at all. Very busy, very sweaty, very autocratic and tbh I thought half the staff were pretentious muppets.

Obviously that's not to say all cinemas will be like that.

Agreed 100% Working in a cinema was easy as pie. If it got hard, drag over a cannon-fodder newbie to help out :D If it got too quite, call your posse, and do walkabout looking for screen-hopping scumbags
