All Blacks V Munster Limerick clash to be shown on RTE

THIRTY years after it famously ignored Munster's heroic victory against the All Blacks, RTÉ Television confirmed that it will provide live coverage of November's eagerly anticipated match between the same sides at the redeveloped Thomond Park.
As Sky Sports and Setanta Sports hold the broadcasting rights for the Heineken Cup and Magners League, it will be the first Munster match to be shown live on terrestrial television since 2006.

Ian Buckley of the Munster Supporters Club said: "It's brilliant news because with the demand for tickets you could have filled Thomond Park two or three times over."

RTÉ did not provide coverage of Munster's 1978 win against New Zealand because RTÉ claimed that it was unable to spare the outside broadcast equipment because of the official launch of the new RTÉ 2 television station in Cork two days later.

Munster aren't playing the All Blacks.
The match is basically a Munster A vs New Zealand XV
(kiwis who play it aren't awarded intl caps for it).
Ireland will have played the All Blacks the previous weekend and will be training for the game vs Argentina the following saturday.

If you haven't got one by now, I'd say your chances are slim at best. Unless you pay some extortionate fee for a corporate ticket.
Tickets mainly are being sold with season tickets, either through clubs or the supporters club.

Er, they did televise the match. They subcontracted an outsider to do it.

They didn't televise it live IIRC. It's before I was born, but from what i remember reading, there is only about 12 minutes of footage from the game.

It is the All Blacks, New Zealand are touring as the All Blacks as aposed to NZ Maori or Junior ABs. Try telling any of the 15 men playing in black that day that they aren't All Blacks and see what they say.

Also Munster played the ABs in '88 I believe, lets just say that the scoreline was much less remarkable than in '78 and nobody has written any plays about it!

I've checked this out here at the office and JWAD is actually correct.
There are no caps awarded for the NZ players for that game.

The team are submitted for fixtures here as 'New Zealand XV'.
    Not the All Blacks.

    See Worrytahs' answer above.
I'd say coming from the IRFU, he'd be a more credible contributor with that answer, wouldn't you? ;)

This is an exhibition game folks, nothing to get your knickers in a knot over. It's about money making, yes if Munster win we'll never hear the end of it, but I don't think anyone other than Adidas are taking it seriously. Well, the "journalist" at the Limerick Leader might be too.

The only part that I'll be taking seriously is the drinking afterwards. :D

Its down to yourself how much fait you put in the IRFU;)

Fairenough there are no caps awarded, They'll still be wearing all black and they'll still be giving it everything.

And just to keep the pointless debate alive. It was pointed out on munsterfans a few weeks back that the All Blacks website has the match listed as Munster V All Blacks.

JWAD and Worrytahs accounts banned. Dual accounts are frowned upon particularly when you are using them to back yourself up.
