Hi All

My younger brother recently applied for a job in the civil service he got an email back saying:

Thank you for your application for the position of Clerical Officer.

The first stage of the recruitment process will require applicants to undergo selection tests. In order to book your test session please telephone Locall 1890-697000. This line will be open from Saturday 9th August 2008 during Office hours (including lunchtime). There are a range of dates available from 19th August. Please ensure that the date you are allocated is suitable as changes are only facilitated in exceptional circumstances.

Please note that these tests will be taken by computer and candidates will have an opportunity to take an Optional Language Test should they wish to do so

This seems different to how i joined the service i never had to do any test via computer i did the numerical,verbal reasoning etc etc

Just curious have they changed their selection process and this is now a new requirment needed

As far as i know its the same type of test just on a computer. There is a document on publicjobs.ie with sample questions.
