Interesting website, presents a different view on the green movement.

I am becoming increasingly sceptical of this movement. While to begin with I could see the point, nowadays it appears to have taken off in a somewhat totalitarian direction.

Sure the green agenda has been hijacked by people & used to their own advantage. Name one movement where that hasn't happened? Religion! No.. wait that one turned out to be quite the handy little pretext...Socialism? Umm..no comment... etc etc etc.

Just to go through a few of those comments:

Earth First! are known as extremists & have been for years. They're like the most extreme wing of PETA of the environmental movement.

I really don't have a problem with most of the comments. He has just posted them up with a general air of "Ooohh!", without saying exactly what the problem is:

"Current lifestyles and consumption patterns of the
affluent middle class - involving high meat intake,
use of fossil fuels, appliances, air-conditioning,
and suburban housing - are not sustainable."
    - Maurice Strong,
    Rio Earth Summit

    Controversial?? Umm not really...

"Mankind is the most dangerous, destructive, selfish
and unethical animal on the earth."
    - Michael Fox,
    vice-president of The Humane Society

Can't really argue with that one.

And the comments about issues with population - what exactly is the problem? Does it make you uncomfortable to hear the nasty truth that 6 billion people cannot live to 1st world standards on this planet? read Collapse by Jared Diamond. This generation REALLY needs to get over the idea that we are somehow special - other societies through history have had to face up to the harsh realities of this question. Why do we think we can get away with ignoring it because it makes awkward conversation around the dinner table?
