do you pay prsi if you have a med card

    If you are a medical card holder do you pay prsi and health contribution? If not can you claim back what you have paid?

    It's a medical card not a live life for free card. PRSI does not only go towards medical cards it also pays towards social welfare and pensions.

    You pay a reduced rate of PRSI for the time you have a medical card. Give a photocopy of the card to your payroll department and they will apply the new rate.

    I don't actually have a medical card but I was just doing a tax question there and It basically said you don't pay prsi if you are a medical card holder or social welfare. Never heard of this before.
