I use komplett most of the time for upgrades, they have a few 2.5" Hard drives you can see here there are other shops which some may recommend, so if you find one cheaper go with that. You will need to connect the new hard drive to your laptop, you can do this by using a 'hard drive caddy'. Then you will need to transfer your data to the new hard drive there are a few ways to do this, the best way would be to 'ghost or clone the drive' (its like an x-ray of your hard drive which is copied to a file). To do this you need something like 'Norton Ghost(free trial here)' It's really easy to use, let us know if it works out for you or if you need any more help with it.

Hey hal1 thanks for the quick reply :D

Ill have a look at ghosting i know i have a ghosting program round here sopmewhere and ill be ok with that

See im fine with pcs i could happily buy parts for that with no problem but i dont wanna mess up with a laptop hard drive

Im considering downloading all drivers and giving it a clean install of xp pro sp2.
And that way i wont carry over any viruses if i have any. Then if i want i can get a caddy think iv got onelying around though and transfer the data to my older pc

Will let you know how i get on but might be a while
    Thanks again

according to the specsheet it can take up to an 80gb internal drive. Though that sheet was probably published when your lappy was made, it may be possible to put a bigger one in now.

Oh no....So does that mean there a chance it wont work with anything bigger?or what?

it probably just means that the 2.5" hard drives at the time had only reached up as far as 80GB. A modern day 320GB drive may take as much power to run as the 80GB did then. That would be the driving issue though. If you open up your lappy case it will say on the Hard Drive how much/what power it requires to operate. Its possible newer drives will eat more power. Check before buying.

ok had a look at the HD it say "+5v 0.42A"

had a quick look on the samsung site and the 160gb hard drive operates at the same voltage
couldn't see the Amps but should be ok
