TV Show Of The Week 10: Heroes

I remember seeing the pilot for Heroes about this time 2 years ago, and to be honest I wasn't really blown away. It was interesting without being really compelling.

It really took a few episodes to find its feet, and by episode 3 or 4 I was hooked.

Sure, the season 1 finale was anticlimactic, and season 2 was pretty poor, narratively. Tim Kring has acknowledged the problems with Season 2, and said they will be sorted for Season 3.

I have high hopes for season 3. It will either restore the fanbase, or lose them forever.

Best/Worst characters? Favourite episodes? Where do you think the story will go? How long will the show last before burning out (or fading away)?

    Lets hear your thoughts...

Clearly the character whose power I'd most like to have would be Peter Petrelli, but then that's an easy choice to make seeing as he can have everyone's. With some good writing and story lines he could turn out to be one of the greatest hero characters of all time. He was well cast and his character is only now coming to terms with the power he has. This could make for some great future episodes.

I'm not sure what they're planning for season 3 but I'd like to see it progressing in an Xmen kind of way. So far there has been very little teaming up of heroes (a lot of them don't know the others even exist) and not enough evil characters: something not that common in comics. So some more bad guys and more big scale action pieces would be nice.

If thats your wish, then you'll be pretty pleased with Season 3 (from what I've heard). I don't want to give any plot away, but Volume 3 is called Villains for a reason....

I knew that threatening letter to Tim Kring would work! Also, would like to see more of Elle: more attractive than Hayden Panettiere by a long way

I was a little late catching onto Heroes, so the hype had kicked into full drive before I got around to seeing the pilot. Usually that means it's not going to be as good as you expected, but I thought it was.

Unfortunately my interest waned a bit towards the end. The 'flash-forward' episode was fantastic, but I thought it ended on a weak note with a very anti-climatic finale.

I only watched Season 2 intermittently because like most, I thought it was pretty bad (though in fairness, they were buggered with the WGA strike) but as Mr E said, the season's problems have been acknowledged by producers and I'm looking forward to Season 3.

Shamelessly cross posted from the Heroes forum, but people may visit here more than there (especially in the off season)

This is a fun one. There are some extras on the DVD Box set (due for R1 release in a couple of weeks), and the extra scenes have made it onto youtube.

I think I'd argue that the alternative ending is better than the original. See what you guys think.
