Hi, anyone have any experience of using some third party encryption package in a commercial environment? I'm in the market for something to install on a number of user's laptops in a bid to protect them if they go missing...
    Thanks.

This would be a good starting point. Does full disk encryption. I am assuming you are using windows based machines here. The linux version of truecrypt doesn't yet do full disk encryption and I'm not sure what out there will do it. I had to leave the boot partition unencrypted on a few laptops I was encryptiong recently.

Otherwise you might want to find out more about checkpoint who do commercial encryption tools. Truecrypt is well worth checking out though.

Really depends on the number of users you are looking for etc. There are packages out there from McAfee/Safeboot, PGP & Checkpoint/Pointsec who are the commercial leaders. These packages will normally have a management console so an administrator in the organisation can when one of the laptop users "forgets" his password recover the laptop. Normally this is recommended with installs of 20+ users.

(just to be clear I sell 2 of the products above so I am biased!).

Thanks folks, Mcafee Endpoint Encryption looks like what I had in mind. Needed for about 30 laptops, all running XP in AD, so might fit in well.
