:( No game today??? After me driving to Tallaght I was not a happy bunny

Made my over to Tallaght for this too, and no-one on list at approx. 1420hrs.
In principal I like the idea of a daytime tournament, as I usually do a vanishing act from work around lunchtime most Fridays.

I waited till about 3.. I think the scrapping of the early bird bonus contributed to this. Once that went it started getting later starting.
Donno whether I bother next week to be honest.

We all know why people have stopped comming.... Cuz they know they cant beat me! :D

Its shocking that they cant get the numbers cuz i know there are a lot of people (and students) out there who would play on a friday afternoon. More needs to be done about getting the word out, and/or enticing people out there.

Hope this doesnt spell the end of the friday game, which was always good craic.

Will wait & see if theres any input from Ross on this???
Once tournments start running later & later its always the sign of doom.
An incentive is needed. guarantee a prize pool and you will gets the numbers.
And for gods sake bring back the early bird. Every other organiser gives it.

I would like to see this game continue. But some guarantees are needed before I give up my afternoon just to drive over the M50 & back

Making a guaranteed prize pool of €1000 would attract numbers most definitely.

We run the Friday tournament at a loss, the €10 reg doesn't cover the drinks, food and wages, but we are happy to run it, if we get the numbers and people enjoy it.

As far as last friday goes, we usually send out a text on the morning but the Meteor system was down, so they didn't go out on time. Apologise to anyone who attended.

At this point I don't feel comfortable offering a gaurenteed prize pool, we are a small club and cant really cover overlays.

We pay out a 100% prize pool after the reg so if more people show up the prize pool will go up.

I believe with the 10K starting chips and 30minute blinds its an excellent value for players.

I will re-post it again on boards and send out texts this week.

As a player I never really thought the early bird chip mattered that much because everyone seemed to get it but I will put some thought in to making it start closer to the 2p.m start time.

For people who have regularly attended, thank you for your support and I will do every thing I can to ensure a game this Friday.

And the fact that some stay for the cash games
I never really thought the early bird chip mattered that much because everyone seemed to get it
You see thats the problem everyone got it so there was no need to turn up early. I texted you my reg every week regardless of whether I was early or late. But the last time I asked I was told everyone was late so no one gets it.
I will do every thing I can to ensure a game this Friday.
I am not driving the M50 for nothing. If you want to text me if you have some numbers I'll try make it.

I am not trying to be smart or give you a hard time Ross. I said from the start I like the idea of daytime tournments & I hope you can get it to work. But I know from playing over the past few years that if rules & starting times are stuck to people will arrive.

Tom, its your choice. Even with the occassional cash game after the tournament its still run at a loss.

As i said I will advertise it the best I can for this week. If it happens it does, if it doesn't I will kill the game and use the dealers in the evening.

If its running at a loss then That's that then!!
I hope someone else picks up on the day time games.
There are plenty of people free during the day. With the right incentives it could be really good.

15 players on Friday, good game, with 3 guys chopping up the €820 prize pool.

Thanks to everyone who attended, same game next week, register early for your bonus 2k.

how about instead of you guaranteeing a prizepool u just add 200-400? that would get the game going and you would prob make that back in cash games afterwards. Numbers would pick up then, as there is prob a very wide market. If u add some money to prizepool, i can guarantee(;)) i could get some players down

As stated before the Poker Room is a small card Club and can not in anyway offer a guaranteed prize pool and we can not add anything to the prize pool of our Friday tournament.

I believe with the structure, Starting stack and Free food, beer etc it's absolutely the best value for money of any tournament out there. Its a 100% prize pool every week minus the €10 reg so if you want to increase the prize pool, make sure you come along every week. We have upped the early bird chip to 2k, 20% of the starting stack and we had most of the players here last week prior to 2p.m.

We had 15 players last week, We will text it out again this week and re-post it on boards, Its a good game with a lot of play, hope to see you there,

    Many thanks Ross.

    Agreed Ross.

I played this (although shockingly badly :D) last Friday and the structure esp with the early bird chip gives excellent value for money.

I hope the tourney continues to run & the numbers pick up too.

    :D
