    Hi,
i posted this on the accountancy thread too before i saw this area.
i was wondering if anyone could help me. Basically i got paid today and ended up payin over 3times as much tax as i normally do.
I had a closer look at my pay slip and where i normally have tax credits and tax cut off point there was 0. and also in the area called tax basis instead of 0 which im normally classified there was F1 instead.
Does anyone know what this means????
your help would be greatly appreciated!!!

    Thanks :D

    I'm not sure.

Can you give us some background information?

How long have you been in the job?
Did you give them a P45?
    Are you from the EU?

    OK, something sounds very wrong.

Ring your payroll person and ask for an explanation.

    thanks
im after calling them there and apparently my employer didnt send in some form 2 years ago so theyve just put me on emergency tax. Im rippin. they cant sort out my next pay either cos im paid every 2 weeks so ive to wait til sept....which isn good to hear when yave bill etc to pay n no reason to lose half your wage!!!
i dont know why they didnt contact me in the 2 years that they didnt have the form and save me all this hassle!!!!

Don't wait for them to sort it for you. You can do it yourself. It will take about 5 minutes.

Ring the revenue office and ask for your tax credits and what tax information your payroll people should be using. They will give these details to you over the phone. You can then give these details to your employer.

It sounds like your payroll staff are total retards.
