Hi guys, sorry for the spammy sounding title!

Look my brothers macbook 13' died and it turns out its the logic board. He absolutely needs the data from the HD tomorrow.

I was thinking of removing the HD (i presume its ok since the logic board is the problem) and mounting it in my mac pro and backing up the files?

    Is this ok? Any probs?
Any help asap is greatly appreciated

    Dave

Cant see any reason that wouldnt work - obviously your brother's hard drive would need to be slaved (i.e. dont swap out your HD) .

Slap it in a usb enclosure and you should be good to go.

    Doesnt matter.

I assumed you were gonna check 2.5" or 3.5" and ide or sata yourself.

It's a new laptop so I'd put money on it that it is a 2.5" sata hd.

I only ask because I dont have it in front of me. If there were universal enclosures it would be handy. its the 13' model so im presuming its the smaller 2.5 anyway and i think arent they all sata?

If the logic board is dead the HD should be fine right?

Its a 2.5" sata, very easy to get at. You'll need a philips head to get the HDD out, and a torx size 8 to get the HDD from its bracket.
