Any one check this out? The world's possibly first stoner/action film, from the guys that brought you Superbad:

Been getting pretty positive reviews Stateside, coming here on the 6th September. Franco seems to have nailed it!
    Thoughts?

    Was slightly discussed here.

I like Bill Hader, James Franco, Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and Judd Apatow...

.. and I have quite high hopes for this. But these stoner movies normally rely on lazy humour but Goldberg and Rogen's writing could elevate this into something special - though I hope it's better than the vastly over-rated 'Superbad'

I'm a massive freaks and geeks fan so the prospect of Franco and Rogen back on screen together is pretty exciting, no to mention I'll watch anything that comes from the Apatow camp.

Just back from seeing this, and its another fun but throwaway comedy from the crew. I always go into the Apatow films with a lot of good will (even more so this one because it was directed by David Gordon Green, who I shall forever respect for giving us George Washington). And this one is pretty funny, with a lot of good gags and a great buddy performance from Franco and Rogen (and plenty more borderline homo-erotica for Superbad fans). Some cool one-liners and amusing action too.

But it feels a bit inconsistent too, and never feels as funny as it should be, and the editing is really bad and distracting. I preferred it to Superbad though - it is a bit lighter on the dick jokes, but still isn't anything approaching mature (an hilarious name calling bit is beautifully childish though). But yeah, another disposable comedy, which feels like a stoner's version of Hot Fuzz, just not as funny. Just hope Judd himself gets back to the directing though, as only his films feel really accomplished.

This is out over here but I don't know if I want to see it, I have alot of time for James Franco, he was very good in Spiderman, Freaks and Geeks and James Dean. Always took him pretty serious so dunno if I wanna see him go all goofy. Can't stand Seth Rogen, just find him annoying in every possible way..

Went to see it tonight and it's well worth going to if you're in the mood for something that doesn't require any thinking.

Franco is excellent is his role. Rogen is Rogen, i.e. you know what you're gonna get. Hader isn't it in at all really.

For me it suffers from Superbad syndrome - it's dragged out a bit too much. Some hilarious scenes though. Would recommend it for a few cheap laughs.

Worst thing I've seen in the cinema since Space Truckers, Rogen's 15 min have to be up after this. Totally sh*te...even after a cross-joint I don't think i'd find it funny.

Was at it last night, really enjoyed it. Franco showed great range , he was awesome. Bit disapointed at how small Haders role was though. And couldn't help noticing how much it resembled Hot Fuzz in places.

Not my favourite Appatow & Co outing. Definitely had its moments, some good buddy comedy moments between Franco and Rogen but overall I didn't think it was great. I agree with johnny_ultimate, I'd like to see Judd Appatow behind the camera for the next one.

I had to remind myself i was in the cinema while watching this film because i was laughing so much at times. In fact i haven't laughed as much while watching a film since i saw Dumb and Dumber for the first time.

What i liked about this film is the fact it didn't rely on the hackneyed sex jokes like Superbad and the soporific The 40 Year Old Virgin to carry it. I agree Franco showed he is a good actor by convincingly playing a character that is quite a departure from the other roles i've seen him play.

One of the funniest films i've seen in a while, the "daewoo" scene near the end was hilarious!

Saw it last night and quite enjoyed it. It's far from the laugh out loud non stop comedy classic that some are claiming but it has enough genuine laughs to justify going to see. My biggest problem with the film was that it could never find a constant tone, one minute it's a comedy, next a buddy movie and the next an action film and it never quite gels.

James Franco was fantastic, he's proved himself a more than capeable actor on a number of ocassions but in Pineapple he owns every scene he's in.

Ended up going again last night and while it nowhere near as funny secodn time round it's still quite a lot of fun and works fantastically as an action film.

I loved it. I couldnt stop laughing the whole way through. Ive seen a few comedies lately, Step Brothers and Zohan, which we were not great. But this vas very funny. If you liked superbad you will like this. Rogen was his usual self but James Franco was brilliant and shows that he could have a bright future ahead of him. There are parts where it lulls in the film and loses its way only to redeem itself later. Well worth a look.

Excellent film. Maybe a little biased because I was pretty drunk when I went to see it....but I really found it hilarious. Danny McBride steals the show IMO, even if he's only in it for a short time.

    "Thug Life!"

    :D

Oh and - someone, please help me out with this - what's the other famous comedy movie where the lead, bumbling character is mistaken for a professional hitman?? I just can't think of it, and it's driving me nuts....

Thought it was hilarious. Haven't been to a comedy at the cinema in a good while now that I think of it, so it was good just to sit back and laugh my way through this.

Again, Franco was really excellent, would love to see him in more roles like this. Thought it dragged sligtly in one or two places, but overall, very enjoyable.
