Returning to Ireland

    Hi all

I will shortly be returning to Ireland after an abscence of 5 years, would anybody have any info on what kind of benefits might be available to me (2 years employed, 3 years self employed) can I claim tax back from another EU state?

Apart from the tax what is available to me until I can get a job? I would like to think that the country/system would welcome back one of its own with open arms... but it seems that I will have less rights than other imigrants/asylum seekers (my impression on things)

I would like to get various balls rolling before I get back, so if anyone has any info please reply

    gracias!

You will be entitled to at the very least , job seekers benefit that is approx about €194.80 at the moment.

You will not be entitled to Jobseekers Benefit as it based on your credits paid in Ireland in 2006.
First thing you should see if you are entitled to anything in the country your in when unemployed then you might be able to tranfer it to Ireland. If not, then you will only be able to claim Jobseekers Allowance which is means tested. It will take a long time for the claim to go through(a couple of months) and you can't make the claim until you are in the Ireland.
