I'm travelling to Kiev for 2 days on business on the 18th and I need to know if I have to get some sort of visa to enter the country.

I had a look at a couple of Irish government sites but they were fairly inconclusive.

    Any ideas ?

Generally, it's not the Irish government you need to look at, but the country you're visiting :)

    Ukraine Embassy London http://www.mfa.gov.ua/uk/en/news/top.htm

No visa required for 90 days tourist travel. If one is to be technical about it, you probably require a business visa though..

I was in Kiev a lot for business during 2004. Wonderful city, look out for the Irish pub called the Golden Gate ( Near the ' Golden Gate' ) if it's still there .

    I loved the place.

I'm flying there on 18th too, he he. Won't be seeing much of a Kiev though, as I'll be going straight home to Crimea :)

It's a beautiful city all right. I was there on my way back from Crimea in 2004. You needed a visa back then. I think they got rid of them temporarily for the Eurovision and then altogether.

That was it alright. The number of tourists jumped so much after they got rid of the visa requirement for Eurovision that they decided to drop it permanently.

    Expensive.

Everyone overcharges the foreigners. The city is smelly, dirty and I wouldn't bother going back. I couldn't wait to leave.
