    Hi All,

I have a desktop at home with decent spec's that I use for most jobs. However, I'm about to purchase a laptop for convenience.I will be using it primarily for poker and surfing the net. Apart from taking it on holiday,it won't leave the house. The cheapest/best deal I can find is a Dell Vostro 1510 at €400 delivered, with a 2 week assembly time.
    Will these spec's be sufficient?

    *Intel® Celeron® Processor 540 (1.86 GHz, 1 MB L2 Cache, 533 MHz FSB)
    *Windows® Vista™ Home Basic
    *Microsoft® Office 2007 Basic
    *15.4" Widescreen WXGA (1280 x 800) Display with Anti-Glare Coating
    *2048MB (2x1024) 667MHz DDR2 Dual Channel
    *80GB (5400rpm) SATA Hard Drive
*IntelJ Integrated Graphics Media Accelerator X3100
*Fixed Internal 8x DVD / 24x CDRW Combo Slot Load Drive including Software
*Primary 6-cell 56 WHr Lithium Ion battery
    *1Yr Basic Warranty
    *Dell™ Wireless 1395 (802.11 b/g) MiniPCI Card - Celeron Processors

    Main concerns are

Will the integrated graphics card be enough?
What kind of battery life can I expect? (I cant get a bigger battery)

    Thanks for any input,
    Ic

Well if integrated graphics cant handle online poker and web browsing then what can they handle! Theres no need for an independant graphics card at all if poker is your biggest graphics demand!

Battery life, well my 1510 with an indepandant gfx card gives me about 2 or 3 hours battery life! Plenty IMO.

Oh, and a wise man once said, "Intel Celeron, they're pieces of sh***

EDIT: From what I can see, your speced laptop above costs €458 before vat & Shipping.
Id suggest going for the 2nd least expensive vostro there, the Intel Core 2 Duo one. Starting at €329.

Priced up a 1510 there for €508 before Vat & Shipping. Its the basic package, only with Office 2007, and 2 x 1gb Dual Channel Memory.
€50, for an extra core in a better processor, and twice the harddrive space.

This is what I'm looking at

Edit: link to Dell quotation doesn't work, sorry. (Pretty sure its €404 shiped though)

I don't need extra HD space,80GB would be plenty for me.Priority is cost.
Out of interest, what would I not be able to do with an integrated graphics card as opposed to an independant one?

Heavy graphics orientated programs, such as games, video editing I guess also.

On dells site is says, free shipping from €429. I priced up that Single core celeron again, €458 is what im getting! Shipping would be free on that, but there is 21% vat to be added!

The price in the top right corner is Ex. Vat. That 1510 you priced is still comming to €554.18 including VAT

Pay extra and get a 9 cell battery... you will not regret it.

Oh that sucks... on the vostro 1000 it can give about 7 hours battery.

Im pretty sure the option was there before to get the 9 Cell, but it aint there now. Stupid of Dell really. Its probably available if ya pick one of the more expensive setup 1510s.

Thanks guys, will probably go ahead with this.

I looked for the bigger battery but as Black Knight says, that option is not available.

Price difference we're getting is curious,I'm pricing with the Celeron processor. Is that the reason?

I was pricing with the celeron too. Seriously wouldnt recommend the celeron though. Pending on the price difference between that and the 1.8Ghz Core 2 Duo, id defo go with the core 2 Duo.
