4 O' Clock this morning I was watching Dr Phil.In this particular episode a young couple with children where contemplating divorce because of their Myspace pages.

    MySpace is also spawning...
    Copyright infingement
The trashing of stupid little rich kids houses cause they invite people to parties on Myspace in their "blogs"
    Child abduction
    Posts of violent attacks
    Cyber Bullying etc....

Is it tearing our society apart...what are we to do. Discuss

Couldn't you have linked this in with the other thread?

I think people just have to realise that they're not their online alias (paraphrasing).

yup kids being groomed on myspace and lured to meet someone who is posing as a 15 year old boy but is really a dirty 69 year old man who kidnaps them and buggers them till sundown.....

    Mostly a problem in America.....

That has been happening in chatrooms a lot longer than myspace.

Maybe we should just ban t'internet?

All that shít would happen anyways, it would just happen on another site or in real life (e.g. instead of cyber bullying the people would just bully in real life, instead of someone posting up details about their house party on my space, they'll stick it on a wall somewhere). The only way to stop all the above is to lock everyone into their own separate room and allow no-one to leave.

yes but with all the pics etc its much easier to be lured into a false sense of security...

But then there would be no boards :O

If he had a band, then they would have people flirting regardless.

It's not an issue with myspace, that would be an issue with their marriage. People are too comfortable to blame other things rather than themselves.

Yeah, I personally thought it was all about the wife's insecurity in her relationship howeve did Myspace feed to this insecurity

AH Dr Phil, the Jerry Springer of the middle classes.

Anyways, if MySpace wasn't doing it, someone else would.

I volunteer to lock everyone else in. Then I'll be free to roam the deserted landscape commiting my crimes with impunity. I could be the real omega man.

I have no MySpace page

I do however have a bebo. I'll take it the levels of 'stoopid' being ommited by most young people on MySpace are somewhat lower than they are on Bebo, but I've read of some truly nasty cases of cyber buylling over on MySpace..... MyDeathSpace also freaked the hell out of me when I first found it.

Social network sites can be scary alright, but as said above chatrooms were the same before MySpace- and if it wasn't MySpace in the news it'd be Facebook, Bebo, Livejournal or whatever else. Some people are pricks, and the internet gives everyone a chance to create their own space. Obviously, people who will take advantage of this will turn out to be pricks. You don't hear about the 95% of people (i.e us) who just use the net to chat about 'the worst kip in Ireland' or upload holiday pics.

Best point ive heard all day......This never happened back in the 1800's when americans used to sterilise immigrants who didnt pass an IQ test.

Bet the people who passed that test wouldnt be having fights over Myspace
