I loved those games ! Its rare to see a game that lets you control one soldier at a time, the destructable environments made the games much more fun too !

Looks interesting. But looks more like Faces of War than SHOWW2. Despite being an older game, I much preferred SHOWW2. I found Faces of War to be worth playing, but a let down all the same. What I'd really love is a game more like that (or even an expansion pack).

well I downloaded it and the fecking thing is in ruassian and I cud'nt understand a fecking that was said so I uninstalled it,Wish they'd release an english demo .

Is the Demo playable or did you need to understand Russian to get started? What's it like?

Its in russian and I just could'nt understand the mission objectives so it was unplayable for me anyway.Looks cool though,Im looking forward to the russian version.

It's out now actually ! Had a bash of it there and as always the voice acting for the cutscenes are HORRIBLE as usual :pac: The Gameplay is pretty much the same but the UI and extra little features make it more enjoyable like for example knowing how well your AT gun will do against a certain part of a tanks armor by means of Red, Yellow or Green indicators. I could never get used to the massive fights where you control every unit as I like to solo the units for as long as possible. The amount of havoc you can cause is as satisfying as ever , watching other trucks packed with ammunition drive into the flames of a blown up fuel truck, catch fire then explode in a massive fireball is great !

There's 3 campaigns, Axis, Allies and Soviets and then bonus missions. There is now skirmish sadly but mulitplayer is pretty good if tough if you're new.

They f*cked up and released it early. It's marked as a pre-order but apparently it works. See here

I'm playing the Axis one atm. They're very varied in terms of the missions they get you to do and there's no shortage of weapons or ways to destroy units or buildings. All in all it's pretty good game, will be picking it properly soon.

What are the recommended (and minimum) specs for running it? And will it run on XP?

Took a spin in this demo, having played "Soldiers: Heroes of WW2" all those moons ago. It feels shockingly similar, right down to the same UI & mouse cursors (the the feeling that the engine might just keel over at any minute, though that's true of all Russian developed games really). The game plays well & the direct control's a nice way of handling the pain of micro-management.

The voice acting though is terrible. No scratch that, it's atrociously bad & in many ways would stop me from considering buying this game. It seems like a petty reason not to, but in the bloated genre of the ww2 game it helps that you have incentive to keep playing. CoH married a decent RTS game with a compelling plot to keep you interested. If they couldn't afford professional voice actors, they should have just gone with speech bubbles or something.

Seemed decent enough to be fair. Again, very like "Soldiers...", and units would find cover, not stick their head out when under fire & relocate if their hay bale suddenly became confetti.

Thats good to hear then,I was afraid the A.I might be dodgey seeing as it seems to dodgey in most russians games .

Well admittedly it's a short enough demo & there's not a huge variation of events, so there could still be the Russian factor at play in this game

well I got this monday and I must say I really like,I like the direct fire mode its cool,Im stuck on the 3rd mission of the russians though

Had a game of this the other night and I enjoyed it a lot. Gameplay modes and settings are varied, can be very tense when you only have a limited number of troop re-inforcement as it works by points for each unit. For example, the stronger the tank the more points it will cost or the more specialised the inf and more it will cost etc. Also when they're destroyed you get more points for higher units etc. The Fog of war during the games can be very confusing for someone not used to them, tanks have a vary limited view and need to be supported by infantry so they won't be flanked and destroyed by sneaky infantry and for spotting purposes. It's very hard to solo with a unit unlike the single player, a tiger or panther can take on a few shermans head on but when flanked and without backup then you can say bye bye to that tank ! Every vehicle comes with repair kits so if you have no equipment worries try to completely destroy enemy vehicles as you'll fine the enemy trying to repair a previously knocked out tiger or heavy tank on the sly as fog of war is very constricting without inf on the field. You'll also find yourself having to scavange fuel from other vehicles and calling in ammo trucks if your units survive that long :P

Overall it's very enjoyable and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a excellent MP and SP. Anyone want a game just send me a pm.

Tried the demo level. Not bad, but basically more levels for Faces of War. Exact same feel of the game, particularly the scripted aspects. Pity it couldn't go back to the style of SHofWW2. Oh well, not the game I'm still waiting to see...

well I managed to pass it..................eventually :-P :pac:,but now im stuck on mission 5,its a tough enough game but really cool at the same time.

Most mods have better voice-work & production values than that game, I wonder what their excuse was.

Do many people still play multiplayer?

Yeah a lot of people paly multiplayer, it can be tricky to find a game that isn't team stacked, Ger V Rus all of the time or with good pings but generally it's good craic. I do be on a few nights a week for an hour or two.
