Paypal scam??

    went to buy a DVD online,they said they only use paypal.When I proceed to checkout ,enter address etc then it directs me to a page which is supposedly Paypal and asks for my paypal password to be entered,the web address for paypal is https://www.paypal.com/ie/cgi-bin.............

    If I enter my password on this site would that not give the company my password to access my account as and when?I thought I was supposed to only use a paypal site I open myself,not one I am directed to?

    any help,thoughts appreciated

    Shops that use Paypal as a checkout redirect you to it, otherwise they wouldn't be able to link the payment with the order.

    You should never follow Paypal links in emails. If you are on a site you trust, and it directs you to https Paypal site then it's OK.

    They won't have you password, as you're not entering it on their site.
