    hi all.

    thinking of buying this :

    http://www.adverts.ie/showproduct.php?product=62034&cat=8

however, my question is, as in the post:

how can i obtain a sim card from 3 that would give me the option of using 3Pay broadband only?

the reason is, i only need access 1 day at a time 4-5 times per month as im on call and cant get internet then, so would use this function then.

i have a skypephone already with a 3 sim in it if its of any help, or do you exclusively need a data sim, and how could i obtain one, and if i do, how do u usually top that up?

thanks for getting back to me

you can use your normal sim and just buy the data add on through planet 3, the e220 modem was no great shakes you might be better off to buy a brand new pay as you go modem....at least you get free support and the latest product...

in theory you shouldn't need to buy a modem at all. You should be able to get the data add on and plug your phone into your pc and use it as a modem. I've never done it with that phone but it worked perfectly with a nokia

three have a daily and a weekly internet deal afaik but if you're using it all across the month it'd probably be better to get the monthly deal

ok, so i can just buy a data add on, so thats good.

im only going to be using it 1 night a week, thats why the 1 day deal is better for me i think.

ill buy a sim card extra.can just leave it in the modem then.

so i can just buy the 1gb 3pay broadband add on and use it to browse then?it wont get used up in calls and doesnt need to be used in a handset at all, but in the modem would be recognised properly etc?

iirc the one day deal is 5 euro for 500mb or something like that, so four nights a month would cost 20 and you'd barely use any of the allowance. The 1gb for 10 for a month would be better

if you buy an extra sim card you can just buy the add on and leave it in a modem. The credit won't get used up and it doesn't need to be in a handset

but as i said, if you can get it to work i think it'd be better to just plug the phone in and use it as a modem. That way you don't have to spend money on a modem or an extra sim and you don't have to carry the extra hardware around

I have a Palm 500V PDA with a 3pay SIM card with only the data add on at 9.99 a month for 1Gb. I only use this PDA for email (I use a 'normal' mobile for calls) and it works perfectly.

You get some free credit too at the start that can be used to purchase the data add on, so it actully works out less than 9.99 a month.

You can get a 3Pay SIM in any 3 shop within the State for a small outlay.

You do not need a dataSIM exclusively, you can use the one that you already own and add on a daily data allowance, when required.
