    Hi All,
I recently purchased this camera and would like to know how to use it properly. My skill with the camera hovers somewhere around the total beginner to absolute novice level - this despite taking thousands of photos over the years. I would like to learn about the art of taking photographs, composition, exposure etc with a view to buying a better dSLR camera when i have the skills t justify all the extra features. I spend a lot of time in mountains so would like to become better at scenic shots, and outdoor skills. Can anybody recommend a good book that would get me started with photography? Or would a course be better, can you learn photography from a book? Cheers,

    S

The book which is most recommended here is called Understanding Exposure by Brian Petersen. YOu will find it on amazon. I don´t have it myself but I do not know one person who has a bad thing to say about it.

I have Tom Ang´s digital photography book, and there are any number of landscape photography books around also.

I second Brien Petersons Understand Exposure. It's a great introduction to photography and something you can refer back to also. I've recommended it to a good few people and they have all been very impressed by it.
