    Hi All,

I am a beginner and have only ever played 2 rounds of Pitch & Putt and now want to get proper golf lessons. I've been advised by my golf mates to buy my own set of clubs to practice on.

Can anyone suggest what I should buy, how much I should be paying and best/cheapest place to buy?

    Cheers
    P

Do you want a full set for pitch and putt, or for full golf?

Club hire down at the pitch and putt (or even some of the public courses) might do you until you know the bug has bitten!

If you're keen, most shops will have a beginners set, including bag for 160 - 200. I was steered in the direction of colt at the time. Most lads here will probably tell you that you'll be replacing those clubs within a year if you take it up frequently.

Alternatively, you might piece together a set from the lads here - I've most of my beginner set still hanging around gathering dust!

Well I'd probably go for a beginners golf set as I can use for both P&P and golf, right?

How old is your beginners set, good nick? If so I'd gladly take them off you or anyone else that has any beginner sets they want to get rid of?

    Cheers

I also bought the Wilson clubs and am more than happy with them. Full set of clubs and bag were only €179 in the golf shop beside the Icon Bar in Leopardstown.

American golf Discount store in Tallaght have great starter sets.
My First set (3years) was a set of wilson with bag for €159. Servered me very well.
Most regular golfers will usually add to there bag with different brands. In my bag now I have

Nike Driver, Ping 3 & 5 Wood, Odyssey 2Ball putter, Titelist wedge. at the moment changing my irons.
