I don't know whether you mean "Where should I dispose of it" or "What could I use it for" but if it is the latter you could use it to learn some networking, use it as a server, install and teach yourself linux, use it as a cup holder etc.

Easiest thing would prob just use a linux live disc and zero the drive..

As for what to do with it? Donate it to a charity shop or something.

    dban is what you want.

Also, can people please use the search facility. This has come up a lot of times and is in the FAQ.

First use some DoD compliant wipe tool, then remove the hard drive and introduce it to a sledgehammer.

DBAN does not wipe a drive fully. We had a drive here that was wiped using it, and it turned out to be the wrong drive. Sent it to Ontrack and they got back 100% of the data. Even sent it back on a 250GB external 2.5 drive.

Many programs claim to wipe drives, but somewhat of the info will alsways be recoverable. The only way to really wipe it is to smash the drive into pieces. And even then im sure it could still be recoverable to some extent. Any time i sell a machine, the hard drives never go with it if there was any personal data on them.

OK well I cant seem to Download Dban properly for some reason.

Ok I think the option might just be a charity shop job, so should I remove the HDD and Destroy it before I do??? I need to get rid of it in the next week!!!!

Anti, unless the OP works for MI5 or the FBI, I think Boot & Nuke will do the business. If he does, a hammer would be more appropriate.
