Weekend in Paris

I'm looking into booking a weekend for 2 in Paris in October and I'd be very grateful for any advice.

I'd be flying to Beauvais Airport cause I want to book with Ryanair as they're way cheaper than Aerlingus and they don't fly to CDG. I know there's a shuttle bus that takes 1.25 hours to get to the centre of Paris, has anyone done this before and if so is it much hassle?

Also I'd like to stay somewhere central obviously, but not too pricey, 3* would probably be best so if anyone could recommend any for me that would be great.

Also any other info re prices of food, drink, entertainment etc?

    Cheers :)

The shuttle is no hassle. 30 seconds from the baggage pick-up, walk out the sliding door, turn left and get your return tickets from the desk. It's only hassle if you have to get up at stupid 0-clock to get it.

As for the rest, well there are over 500 threads on Paris so maybe take a look through them first?

Hotels start at about €80 for a double room.

Don't worry about food. There's a place to eat every 20 yards in the popular areas. Going over with a list sounds logical but never actually works out. IMHO)

I asked the same question re Beauvais, but I beleive its not any kind of hassle. Try looking at some of the other posts, but I have never flown into Beauvais, always CDG so can't help you there, sorry :)

If you are looking for a hotel somewhere in the centre, they tend to be more expensive. I would advise to stay somewhere a little further out like the Montparnasse area, we always stay in Alesia. Its 2 stops to Denfert Rochereau which you can get almost every line to the major sites. Also the Metro is so fast that you barely have to wait 5 minutes between each train so even if you stay further out, its qucik enough to get to the main sites.

I would recommend that you use Tripadvisor when checking hotels. This gives travellers opinions on hotels and you can choose then. Be aware that most bedrooms in Paris are tiny!! and even though some hotels look great in the websites, if you look at tripadvisor, they can be totally different!! There is a lovely hotel called Moulin Vert, never stayed there but friends have said it is nice. Its about €100 for the room each night.

Regarding restuarants, I suggest you walk 1 or 2 streets from the touristy areas and find some restuarants. Try to avoid "Tourist Menus" as these tend to be more expensive than just ordering A La Carte from the normal menu. We did eat in an Italian (i know an Italian in Paris) on Boulevard de Grenelle which is about 10 minute walk from the Eiffel Tower. The restaurant was called something Des Artistes and between metro stops Dupleix and La Motte Picquet Grenelle.

When in October are you going, we are heading back either the 2nd 3rd week of October. We have been loads before and I can't get enough of it!! Anything else, just ask and hopefully I can help!!
