how do you deal with foot corns?

hey, i have a foot corn, so i got some of them little pad things for it. It says you keep applying the patch until "it can be removed". but yet the dr sholls packaging says corn removal, anyone had experience with these? Does it mean i removed it myself, like peel the corn off after the patch as softened it up?
