You mean, the emerging powerhouse of The Castle that were dumped out of Barton Sheild by the mighty Foxrock?

portmarnock r still by far and away the best. other clubs may have lower handicaps eg the castle but i'd bet my house on portmarnock beating any of them. plus 4 of the portmarnock team just won the barton shield. and how can u call portmarnock old boys? niall goulding is the oldest and is not old he is experienced. all the rest r a lot younger. and who can argue with someone who has won back to back west of irelands? no one in the castle has come close to doing that

Agree, Portmarnock have by far the most consistent and powerful senior team in the country, with some really good backup. The old boys alone would beat most clubs up a stick on their own.

The Women's Senior Cup finals are on this weekend too. Looks like Ennis might do the business.

The five District Champions Ennis, Kilkenny, Roscommon, Royal Portrush and The Island join this year’s back-door graduates Douglas, Slieve Russell and Woodbrook in the Irish quarter-finals of the 2008 Suzuki Senior Cup at Galway Golf Club, 29th August.

Favourites Ennis will look to the experience of Tricia McDonnell to claim back-to-back victories for the Clare side having won the title for the first time last year at Milltown. Youngsters Sarah Cunningham and Ciara Pender are once again in action but will need to be in top form to see off a feisty Kilkenny who will be ably led by double-nineties Irish Champion Eileen Rose Power and youngsters Rebecca Muholland and Sinead Slater.

The talented Maguire sisters, Leona and Lisa, will fly the flag for Slieve Russell as they take on Eastern District Champions The Island. Teenagers Sarah Carty and Rachel Cassidy should prove a stern test for the twins while double girls Champion Suzy Sheehan, albeit 24 years ago, makes a welcome return to competitive play having re-joined the amateur ranks earlier this year.

Past Internationals Eavan Higgins and Kate MacCann lead twelve times Champions Douglas into battle with an unknown quantity in Roscommon who field Connacht Champion and past Girl International Anne McCormack and the talented Ailbhe Farrell in their ranks.

The final tie sees second favourites and 22 times Champions Royal Portrush, led by past International Helen Jones, who will field the in-form Gemma Hegarty and Lucy Simpson. The northern side should prove too strong for the talented Sue Phillips and her Woodbrook teammates who have only previously once succeeded at this level in 1969.

All four quarter-finals take place on Friday 29th August with the semi-finalists lining up Saturday morning at 8am. Whatever the outcome, Saturday is sure to see a feast of competitive golf for the ILGU’s blue-ribboned Senior Cup as the cream of elite club golf convene at Galway for the weekend.

    Friday 29th August
    11.30 Roscommon -v- Douglas

12.20 The Island -v- Slieve Russell

    13.10 Kilkenny -v- Ennis
    14.00 Royal Portrush -v- Woodbrook

    Saturday 30th August
    08.00 Roscommon/Douglas -v- The Island/Slieve Russell
    08.50 Kilkenny/Ennis -v- Royal Portrush/Woodbrook

    14.00 All-Ireland FINAL

    Indeed

    25 August 2008

Portmarnock won the Leinster final of the Senior Cup yesterday in Beaverstown GC beating Castle by 3 1/2 to 1 1/2. They will represent the province at the Cups and Shield National Finals in Monkstown GC in both the Barton Shield and the Senior Cup.

Yes.. skated around in 5 over( yellow tees) Different off the blues.

Took on a feed of apples on the 8th and plums on the 16th and destroyed the jacks about 3 hours later. We are talking serious ass gravy here:mad::mad:

Had to change into the rain gear just to leave the premises:mad::mad:

Nice course and well kept, plus the steaks were excellent.

Farting for about a week after but I blame the apples for that.
