Just watched the rerun on Setanta. Great coverage and very positive for a change.

Just one question, who is this Dave Burnett, shooting in the Olympics mentioned by Des Crofton. Is he anything to Derek. (Tongue in cheek):P

If you can do the job, do it. If you can't do the job, just teach it. If you really suck at it, just become a union executive or politician.

Best guess, he was thinking of Dave Malone, a team-mate of Derek's and who has quite a few medals under his belt at this stage as well (including a gold medal from the Cairo World Cup a few years back).

agreed.....couldnt even describe the lay out properly....
ie:he said 2nd barrel was half a point??? all the traps were 2 clays so NO 2nd shot at any clay!!!

1/2 point is for shooting the first clay with the second shot, after missing with the first.

unless they changed the rule without me hearing it you must fire at each target thus 1 shot at 1 clay and besides this there are no half pts..1pt for each clay broken

You'r probably right, we were talking about it the other night in the pub, actually what one of the lad's said was 2 points for a hit with the first shot and one point if you hit it with the second, I don't do much clay shooting so i'm no expert.

It all depends what variety of clayshooting you're talking about. In the NARGC championship you get to fire a variety of consecutive or simultanious doubles and each clay is to be fired at and 1 clay is one point. You get 50 clays over a variety of stands on the day and in the county competitoins.
The usual mix would be springing teal, left-right and right-left crossers, overhead frontal approach ( high pheasant ), bolting rabbit, etc etc.
